For all those of you who are thinking about using electronic cigarettes but are confused by all the vaping jargon - we have put together this helpful list below of key terms.
Atomiser/Atty: The heating component of an electronic cigarette or vaporiser (also known as the coil) that is responsible for vaporising the e liquid.
Battery/Batt: The part of an e cigarette that provides the power to the atomiser (coil). To learn more about the different types of batteries available including eGo batteries read our E Cigarette Starter Guide Part 2 .
Cartomiser: Another term for the e-cigarette cartridge – the filter part of the electronic cigarette. It contains the flavouring. The name is a combination of the two parts that make up this element: Cartridge + Atomiser.
Charger: A battery charger used to recharge your electronic cigarette battery.
Clearomiser: A tank that holds the eJuice and coil. The term is a combination of the atomizer and a clear tank clear-o-mizer.
Coil: The part of the clearomiser that heats and vaporises the juice (sometimes referred to as the atomizer or atty) This is the most important part of the clearomiser and consequently the most vital part of any ecigarette. To learn more about coils and how to choose the right one read our E-cigarette Starter Guide Part 1.
Drip Tips: the drip tip is basically the mouthpiece which comes standard on all tanks. Mouthpieces (drip tips) can be replaced and brought separately.
eGo: A style of e-cigarette that uses 510 threading and lets you use 510 components with a larger battery.
e-Juice: Another word for eLiquid.
e-Liquid: Also known as e-Juice. This is the solution inside the e-cigarette cartridge that is vaporised and contains vegetable Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, and/or Nicotine and flavouring. Please note: All Vaphilia e-juices/e-liquids have been specially mixed at double the intended flavour strength. This is to allow you to add an equal amount of nicotine and/or pg/vg to obtain the intended flavour. All juices sold our website are nicotine-free. For more information about E-juice and Nicotine please refer to our E Cigarette Starter Guide Part 3.
Mod: Short for modification. This term comes from the early days of e cigarettes when consumers found the battery life of the small cigalike (devices that look like cigarettes) limiting. So people started modifying flashlights in order to use bigger batteries. Mechanical mods are all more or less descendants of these early attempts to improve the e cigarette. Mechanical mods are e-cigarettes with no electronic switches, regulators or chips.
Nic: Short for nicotine, the addictive substance found in tobacco. It is illegal to sell or supply nicotine in Australia. For more information about the Victorian laws addressing this visit quit.org.au

Tank: Another word for clearomiser – the part that holds the e-liquid and coil.
